The Administrative Support Alliance of the University of New Mexico’s (ASA-UNM’s) presents its 2013 conference, "Self-Empowerment for Administrative Professionals in a Climate of Change," on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Student Union Building. Steering Committee Chair Val Darensburg said, "We hope there will be hundreds of administrative support staff, crossing several UNM branches and external entities, attending the conference to learn about topics that are relevant, interactive, informative and incredibly fun." Darensburg points out "the fun" in the LOBO LOOK Fashion Show emceed by UNM Director of Communication Dianne Anderson. The fashion show features 16 UNM staff models representing clothing from the UNM Bookstore, the new Ladies’ Boutique at the Bookstore, Suits Unlimited and Maurices. LOBO LOOK will feature clothing appropriate to wear from Monday through Thursday and on Lobo Spirit Fridays.


Keynote speaker Ann Rhoades owns a successful business, has a highly acclaimed book, spearheaded customer service brands at Southwest and JetBlue Airlines and is a member of the UNM HSC Board of Directors. Rhoades will speak about the key skills needed to be successful in a customer-oriented environment. Other presenters include Katherine Anderson author of a successful book on organization; and Thelma Domenici, a successful business owner. Other topics and panel discussions include – Becoming a Social Lobo, Work Happy and Achieve Professional Success, Good Mood Food, Executive and Crossing Bridges panel discussions and many more.
