Len Kravitz, professor of Exercise Science in UNM Department of Health, Exercise, and Sports Sciences (HESS) was awarded a Delegates Choice 2021 International Presenter of the Year Award from the Canadian Fitness Professional organization (canfitpro).

“To be recognized for your work by your peers is most empowering. The Delegates Choice International Presenter of the Year Award is a sincere endorsement from my colleagues that they highly appreciate my science-driven presentations,” Kravitz said.
Canfitpro is a large provider of fitness education in Canada. It offers certifications, memberships, and more. Canfitpro also holds various fitness events both virtual and in person. The 2021 delegates choice award honors outstanding presenters.
Kravitz has researched various aspects of fitness such as the metabolic and cardiovascular effects of certain exercises. He has advanced the fitness industry by conducting evidence-based research and scientific literature reviews that aim to find better ways to train and stay healthy.
“UNM has been incredibly supportive of my research and career,” Kravitz said. “The Exercise Science faculty and students welcome my research and writing projects, and many have enthusiastically collaborated with me on them.”
UNM’s Exercise Science Program gives students a foundational understanding of human functions and movement. The program supports research, education, leadership, professionalism, and certification. It also collaborates with other UNM programs, research institutions, and the community at-large.
Already this year, Kravitz has co-authored several research reviews in two leading professional peer-review journals, working alongside UNM graduate and undergraduate Exercise Science students. The topics have focused on important factors for improving muscular fitness including intensity of exercise, types of exercise, volume of exercise, exercise sequence, training status and program design.
“This award has motivated me to continue this research with our Exercise Science students,” Kravitz said.
