This week on New Mexico in Focus, correspondent Megan Kamerick sits down with local advocates who work with immigrants and refugees in part two in our series on behavioral health needs across our state. And she talks with Kate Moore, author of “The Radium Girls,” about how the poisoning of women who worked in factories with radium may have led to increased protections for workers in the Manhattan Project.

Also on the show this week, producer Sarah Gustavus asks local experts what’s happening around New Mexico to address the gap in meals during the summer months when students can’t rely on breakfast and lunch at school. Gustavus also sits down with New Mexico in Depth data reporter Sandra Fish to talk about the latest reports on fundraising and lobbyist spending in Santa Fe.

Finally, correspondent Gwyneth Doland and Douglas Carver from New Mexico Ethics Watch discuss the role for everyday New Mexicans in the creation of an independent ethics commission.

The show regularly airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and repeats Sundays at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1 and Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. on Channel 9.1, except during pledge drives.
