The 2019 UNM Gives Campaign is kicking off in New Mexican style: a salsa competition. 

The Salsa Showdown, sponsored by the Office of the President, promises to be a tasty event. It will kick off this year’s UNM Give Campaign which aims at breaking last year’s record of nearly $1 million. The event is happening from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the SUB Atrium on Monday Oct. 7.

It is free and open to the entire campus. All are welcome to can stop by and taste the finest salsa and guacamole from the UNM campus community, cast their vote for the best and donate to the UNM Gives Campaign. 

To put your salsa to the test, visit Salsa Showdown Registration. Each entrant should bring one gallon of their prepared salsa or guacamole in a container. The salsa or guacamole should be kept refrigerated until one hour before the cook-off, list of ingredients to be displayed by their salsa (for food allergy purposes) and be available to serve.

Registration is first come and is limited to 20 registrants. The grand prize is one year of free parking. The winner will be determined by popular vote. 

Tables, bowls, chips, ladles, napkins, food handler gloves and beverages will be provided. All proceeds will go to UNM Gives.
