Campus Safety Week is an event held annually in September as part of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, a declaration unanimously approved by Congress in 2008 to encourage a public conversation on important and guiding topics in the prevention of violence at our nation’s colleges and universities.
National Campus Safety Awareness Month is also a time when The University of New Mexico community comes together to conduct workshops and other activities throughout the week that are designed to bring more awareness and education to safety- and security-related topics affecting UNM students, faculty, staff and the campus community at large.
This year, UNM’s annual Campus Safety Week runs Sunday, Sept. 7-13 with Central Campus Safety Day set for Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Do you want to help make UNM's campus a safer, healthier place? You can by joining UNM's annual Campus Safety Walk on central campus. This event is a terrific opportunity to get some steps in after dark with other Lobos. We’ll be counting on participants to help identify areas in need of better lighting, pruning, and more.
We will have a DJ and Pop Fizz for participants to enjoy, and you can even choose your zone in advance! Register yourself or your group using our a quick online form.
Come early and come prepared!
This event is family-friendly and everyone is welcome, so bring a friend (or two). Doors open at 6:30 p.m., but come early for refreshments, free goodies from Pop Fizz, music, and more. Also, download the Ramblr app to your smartphone before the event and use it to track your progress during the walk
