"I'm sincerely humbled to serve as Staff Council President, especially at this time,” Gregg said. ”Staff Council will celebrate 30 years on campus in 2020. UNM is a great institution and the contributions of staff highlight that greatness. I look forward to working with the President Stokes, her administration, and the Board of Regents to advocate for issues important to staff.”

Gregg, who has been at UNM since Aug. 2015, says he joined Staff Council to be more involved and to help advocate for staff interests, while also making leadership more accessible to employees. Upon taking office, he began a monthly communication with staff and encourages them to contact him with their questions or concerns. In addition, he’s committed to updating the UNM Staff Council Twitter (@UNMStaff), in addition to his own (@UNM_Ryan), with happenings and information about meetings and decisions around campus.

"Staff are an integral part of The University of New Mexico and bring a wide diversity of opinions and perspectives. During the course of the next year, I look forward to engaging with staff at UNM to harness those perspectives,” Gregg said. “We're working to find new ways to ensure staff members feel heard and involved in the decision-making process."

In addition to Gregg, the other officers elected include:
President Elect Nancy Shane
Speaker Mary Clark
Treasurer Angela Beauchamp
Grade at Large Representatives Armando Bustamante and Autumn Collins
Precinct at Large Representatives Aracely Chapa and Brian Vineyard

The UNM Board of Regents approved the creation of the UNM Staff Council in Dec. 1989. It is an elected body that addresses issues of particular interest to staff. Staff Council serves as a full partner with other University constituent groups in providing input into the governance of the University.

Staff Council organizes the annual Staff Appreciation events and holds two Staff as Students events, one in April and one in Nov., which allows staff to register early for classes and waives the UNM registration fee.  Staff Council also advocates for staff each year during the legislative session.  The Staff Council President regularly meets with President Stokes, the Provost, the Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and the Regent President to discuss issues of concern for all staff.

Employees can find their Staff Council grade and precinct representative, Staff Council history, events and more at staffcouncil.unm.edu.
