Stephen McCranie, a local cartoonist who graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Fine Arts, will be at the UNM Bookstore Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. to speak about and sign copies of his second book in the Mal and Chad series, "Food Fight!" (Philomel Books). The event is open to the public.

With kid-friendly humor and a deft touch, McCranie continues his series of Mal, kid genius, and his talking dog sidekick, Chad. This time, the duo is challenged to come to the rescue of his not-so-secret crush Megan when both she and her secret all-girls club find themselves in danger.

The UNM Bookstore is located at 2301 Central Ave. NE at the intersection of Cornell and Central. Paid parking is available at the Cornell Visitor's Parking Structure.
